Adult Occupational Therapy Services

Whether you’ve been recently diagnosed or have known for years what type of brain you have, occupational therapy can help you create strategies that fit your life and your goals. We work with Autistic, ADHD, PDA, and otherwise neurodivergent adults to support skills, routines, and environments that work for you.

At Lakeshore Affirmative Therapy PLLC, we offer in-home and virtual sessions so you can receive support in the setting where you feel most comfortable. You’ll work with the same occupational therapist from start to finish, building consistency, trust, and a deeper understanding of your needs over time.

How We Help

Your Occupational Therapy Sessions will focus on skills that make a difference in daily life:

  • Sensory processing and regulation – Understanding your sensory needs and creating strategies to feel more comfortable in different environments.

  • Emotional and nervous system regulation – Building tools for managing stress, overwhelm, or transitions in ways that work for you.

  • Executive functioning skills – Supporting planning, organization, time management, and follow-through for work, home, and personal projects.

  • Daily living activities – Helping you navigate self-care, household tasks, and community participation more easily.

What You Can Expect

  • Sessions that meet you where you are – Choose between in-home and virtual OT sessions so we can work together in the environment that is most comfortable for you

  • Collaborative planning – We’ll start each OT session by checking in on how things have been going, reviewing any strategies you’ve tried, and deciding together what to focus on that day.

  • Skill-building in real life contexts – This might mean practicing executive function strategies with your actual calendar, creating a sensory regulation plan for your workspace, breaking down a household task into manageable steps, or problem-solving around a current challenge.

  • Tools and strategies tailored to you – We’ll explore approaches that align with your strengths and preferences, test them together, and adjust as needed so they actually work for you in daily life.

  • Support you can use right away – Each OT session provides practical next steps you can try before we meet again, so progress continues between appointments.

Below are some examples of the occupations we often address in our Occupational Therapy Sessions:

  • Daily Living Skills: hygiene, cooking, cleaning, laundry, grocery shopping, managing appointments, and paying bills

  • Hobbies/Leisure: maintaining friendships without masking, exploring new interests and hobbies, traveling

  • Work: how to advocate for workplace accommodations, preventing autistic burn-out, navigating public transportation or driving

We can also work together as you navigate new roles and routines in adulthood such as becoming a parent, college student, caregiver, romantic partner or employee.

  • Yes- We are in-network with BCBS PPO and Blue Choice Plans.

We also provide superbills to facilitate reimbursement for out of network plans.

  • You do not need a formal diagnosis in order to receive OT services. Formal diagnosis, self diagnosis, or none of the above are all okay!

  • We value providing “episodic care”. We don’t believe OT should be a “forever thing”.

We do provide an estimate on the predicted number of sessions following your initial occupational therapy evaluation. This number fluctuates depending on how many goals are identified during the evaluation.

  • Most of our adult clients choose to do virtual therapy, but in-home therapy is an option too depending on your location.
