Pediatric Occupational Therapy Services

At Lakeshore Affirmative Therapy PLLC, we work with neurodivergent kids of all ages and profiles — including Autistic children, ADHDers, and those with a PDA (Pathological Demand Avoidance) profile — to help them participate more fully in daily life while honoring who they are.

Every child learns, plays, and grows in their own way. For some neurodivergent kids certain daily activities can feel hard. We’re here to make those moments easier, more comfortable, and more enjoyable.

At Lakeshore Affirmative Therapy PLLC, we offer in-home and virtual occupational therapy sessions designed to support your child in building skills, confidence, and strategies that fit their unique way of experiencing the world.

How We Help

Our occupational therapy sessions are collaborative, practical, and strengths-based. We focus on understanding your child’s nervous system, building regulation skills, and creating strategies that truly fit their unique way of thinking and processing. Whether we meet in your home or virtually, our occupational therapy sessions centers on:

  • Sensory processing and regulation – Supporting your child in feeling more comfortable in their body and environment.

  • Emotional and nervous system regulation – Helping your child develop tools to manage stress, overwhelm, or frustration.

  • Executive functioning – Building skills for planning, transitions, and daily routines in ways that feel achievable for your child.

  • Motor skills – Supporting fine and gross motor development for everyday activities like self care and play.

What You Can Expect

  • A partnership with your family – You know your child best. We work with you, not just with your child, so you have tools and insights that support everyday life.

  • Consistency from start to finish – You’ll work with the same occupational therapist throughout your child’s time with us, building trust, understanding, and a strong therapeutic relationship.

  • Sessions that meet you where you are – We offer both in-home and virtual sessions, so your child can learn and practice skills in the environment where they feel most comfortable.

  • Strategies that fit – Everything we do is tailored to your child’s needs, interests, and strengths.

Below are some examples of the occupations your OT could help address:

  • ADL (activities of daily living): toothbrushing, bathing, dressing, toileting, eating or sleeping

  • IADL (instrumental activities of daily living): dentist visits, traveling, eating out at restaurants, household chores

  • Play: expanding attention and regulation during play, forming authentic friendships, participation in solo or group sports, hobbies, playing with siblings

We can also work together to form a plan related to transitions during their daily routines, how to prevent after school meltdowns, and how best to manage challenging behaviors like hitting, spitting, or kicking.
